Welcome to Montana Nonpoint

Source Mini Grant Wiki!

Mini Grant Program Description:

The fiscal year 2011 Mini-Grant program will be administered by the Soil and Water Conservation Districts of Montana Incorporated (SWCDMI) with assistance from the DEQ NPS Program.

The SWCDMI is seeking applicants for mini-grants of exactly $1,500 to fund local education and outreach efforts that address nonpoint source pollution and water quality issues.

There is $13,500 of federal Clean Water Act Section 319 funding available for local groups working on an education and outreach project that aims to increase awareness of local nonpoint source pollution issues. Examples of previously funded projects include workshops, conferences, training, and student field studies. Projects must address larger watershed efforts in the applicant’s area.

Applicants may be local watershed groups, conservation districts, a county extension service, counties, schools, etc., but must have the ability to manage federal funding. Applicants must provide a minimum of $1000 in local in-kind or cash match. The grants are provided on a reimbursement basis. Applications will be reviewed by a funding recommendation panel from the Montana Watershed Coordination Council’s Education and Outreach Committee that includes individuals from a range of organizations.
